Local emerging creatives, Chloe Noble, Danny Jarratt, Miriam Sims, and Neville Cichon were given a collection of stobie poles in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield Council a face lift thanks to the Helpmann Academy SA Power Networks Stobie Pole Project.

Neville Cichon | University of South Australia graduate
Neville Cichon’s emerging photographic visual arts practice aims to translate the complexities of climate change, referencing our relationship with urban environments. THE OPPORTUNITY
Helpmann Academy have partnered with SA Power Networks to engage established artist, Dave Court, to mentor a group of emerging artists. The selected emerging artists will create a series of public artworks embracing an SA icon, the Stobie Pole, to be installed on several Stobie Poles in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield Council area. This opportunity is supported by City of Port Adelaide Enfield and Post Office Projects Gallery+Studios.
ABOUT DAVE COURT
Dave Court is a multi-disciplinary artist working in areas of painting, design and installation. Current work includes large scale mural painting, public sculpture, digital and new media exploration and creation of immersive installations. After graduating with Visual Arts honours specialising in painting in 2013, Dave was involved with award winning immersive art project Mr IST. Other major projects include running ethical clothing brand foolsandtrolls, retail store / art space Created Range and working as creative director of Yewth Magazine, as well as ongoing freelance work and art practice. Dave’s practice is based around painting, and has expanded to include experimental aspects of photography, video, performance, installation, and collaboration.
PROJECT SPECIFICS
Selected emerging artists will develop a work with an established creative mentor, developing their abilities and confidence in producing public artwork. Selected artists will receive a fee of $3,000 plus materials and be required to have their own public liability insurance. The process will also include masterclasses and development of ideas, as well as developing a close working relationship, collaboration and mentorship between the established artist and the selected emerging artists. The artworks produced will be a series of designs to be fixed to SA Power Networks Stobie Poles in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield. It is anticipated the artwork(s) will remain on-site for a period of two years or more.
WHO CAN APPLY?
This commission is an incredible opportunity for graduates who are up to five years from their final year of study from Helpmann’s partner institutions to gain valuable experience in developing public art and site-specific commissions.
