Helpmann Academy respects the privacy of all the students, graduates, alumni, customers and arts community members, and is committed to protecting your privacy.
This Privacy Policy explains how the Helpmann Academy (“Helpmann”) use and disclose personal information, which we hold about you, the privacy rights you have in relation to that information, and the best way to advise us of any updates to your personal information.
What personal information is collected
Personal information we may collect, or which may be held by us about you, may include:
- Your pronoun, first name, surname
- Institution / University you attended
- Year you started your undergraduate Degree
- Projected final semester, year of study
- Artform you studied, and specialisation
- Your postal address
- Your mobile phone number
- Your email address
- If you identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
- If you are from a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) background
- If you identify as an artist with a disability
- Information about you that is relevant to your performing arts and arts-related interests.
How is the personal information collected
We collect personal information in a number of ways, including:
- When you submit a website form that collects any personal information
- When you apply for an opportunity
- When you apply for a grant, award or opportunity
- When you acquit a grant, award or opportunity
- When you subscribe to our newsletters
- When you register for an event
- When you attend an event
- When you purchase a ticket from us
- When you request information from us
- When you make a donation to us
- When you otherwise provide information to us, including: in writing, in person, by phone or from your use of our website.
How we use your personal information
We use your personal information to:
- Enable you to purchase tickets including, where applicable, to process your credit card payment transactions
- Enable you to purchase artworks including, where applicable, to process your credit card payment transactions
- Enable you to make donations, and to contact you regarding donations
- Send you tickets that you have purchased through Humanitix or Helpmann Academy
- Inform you if events change, or regarding refunds, exchanges where those are permitted
- For marketing purposes including automated advertising, email marketing and direct mail unless requested otherwise
- Gain an understanding of your emerging creative career and interests and to enable us to research and develop our business to better accommodate those interests

- For Helpmann Academy statistical reporting purpose.
When we disclose your personal information
When you allow us to collect your personal information, including through our website, or when you otherwise provide us with your contact details, we will ask you whether you wish to receive information relating to us (eNews) and to events that we think may be of interest to you.
If you agree, we may use your personal information to provide you with information relating to us and to events that we think may be of interest to you.
If you later decide that you do not wish to receive marketing information from us, please let us know by unsubscribing to our eNews or by contacting us at the address set out below.
We do not send data to any overseas or international third parties.
Sharing Your Information
We value your trust and will never sell or rent your personal information.
We may share your information with third parties only when necessary to:

- Ship products or deliver services
- Comply with legal obligations.

Access and Correction
Helpmann Academy strives to keep all recorded personal information accurate. Under the Privacy Act, you have a right to seek access to information that Helpmann Academy hold about you and correct any parts that are inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. If you wish to access the personal information that we hold about you, please set out your request in writing and forward to info@helpmannacademy.com.au
In the interests of protecting the privacy of individuals about whom we hold personal information, we will require that you verify your identity. This can be done by enclosing a copy of a form of identification such as a current driver’s licence or passport with your written request (this will be returned to you after your identity has been verified).
