ABOUT A NIGHT OF JAZZ
A Night of Jazz is Helpmann Academy’s annual Jazz Awards event and concert that honours outstanding musicians from the University of Adelaide’s Elder Conservatorium of Music. In 2023, Helpmann is thrilled to welcome the legendary Jazzmeia Horn to Adelaide to perform with the top graduating musicians from the Elder Conservatorium of Music. Past guests artists, include, Vince Jones, Harry James Angus, Paul Grabowsky, The Hot Sardines, Marquis Hill and Kate Ceberano. This event includes the presentation of the annual Helpmann Academy Jazz Awards.
ABOUT JAZZMEIA HORN
Jazzmeia Horn was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, where her talents emerged and blossomed at an arts-focused high school. Based in New York City since 2009 and enthused as one of the “most exciting young vocalists in jazz” by The New York Times, Horn has been compared to vocal jazz greats such as Betty Carter, Sarah Vaughan, and Nancy Wilson. She has also been praised by prestigious publications such as The New Yorker, The San Francisco Chronicle and The Texas Monthly, as one of contemporary jazz’s finest voices.
