The Helpmann Academy Graduate Exhibition has an established reputation as the showcase exhibition of South Australia’s best emerging artists and shines a spotlight on the top emerging artists from Flinders University, and the University of South Australia.
The Helpmann Academy is pleased to invite applications from emerging visual artists and curators, to undertake a mentorship as Project Curator for the 2023 Helpmann Academy Graduate Exhibition.
Working in collaboration with our presenting partner Adelaide Contemporary Experimental (ACE) – South Australia’s leading independent contemporary visual arts organisation – the Helpmann Academy Project Curator mentorship is an incredible development opportunity.
Emerging visual artists and curators will undertake a mentorship as Project Curator for the 2023 Helpmann Academy Graduate Exhibition. The successful applicant will work under Patrice Sharkey, Artistic Director, ACE, and curatorial mentor, on all curatorial aspects of the exhibition.
The Project Curator will be empowered to develop and broaden their understanding of how to design a space, communicate with exhibiting artists, and oversee installation. They will develop their skills in creating a cohesive, impactful exhibition with works that speak to different themes and ideas.
The mentorship will run between November 2022 and May 2023. Remuneration for the role is $3,000.

This significant opportunity allows the successful applicant to further develop or kick-start their curatorial career. Applicants from a CALD or ATSI background are encouraged to apply.
