The Helpmann Academy’s 2025 Annual Appeal launched today with its ‘Spark a dream’ campaign. Lovers of all things creative are invited to make a gift and be the spark that ignites a dream.
The most exciting thing about this year’s appeal is that you will double your impact with your donation being matched by a group of generous benefactors.
This means that every $1 donated will generate $2, going directly to an emerging creative.
At Helpmann Academy, we are dedicated to nurturing emerging creatives by providing essential professional development opportunities to empower them on their journey. Our grant program is at the heart of this support, offering financial assistance to help emerging creatives realise transformative projects. Monetary gifts will go direct to an emerging creative through one of our grant rounds which include:
- Boost Grants ($500): offer modest, yet powerful support through access to materials, photographic documentation, and other immediate support.
- Development Grants ($3,000): are a transformative investment that enables artists to bring their vision to life.
More than just funding, these grants are catalysts that spark confidence, growth and opportunities for emerging creatives. They provide the means to take risks, refine their craft, and share their vision with the world.
We could not exist without the support of the Helpmann Academy. Helpmann has made it possible for us independent theatre-makers to produce excellent performances, establish ourselves in the Adelaide theatre community, and build lasting relationships.

Every successful creative’s career begins with a spark—a vision of what could be. Without support, that spark can fade—but you have the power to change that. The spark a dream campaign profiles three creatives and one collective who are living proof of the impact that the Helpmann Academy has made through the generosity of passionate supporters.
With your support, young artists take bold steps in their careers—you can be the spark that ignites their future.
The Helpmann Academy is a unique partnership between Flinders University, the University of Adelaide, and University of South Australia. Working together with a community of passionate supporters the organisation exists to empower emerging creatives.
