Do you have ambitions to be an arts reviewer, but don’t know where to begin?
The Helpmann Academy InReview Mentorship 2023 seeks to develop the next generation of arts reviewers and rebuild the practice of robust discourse and analysis of South Australian performing and visual arts.
The mentoring program, a partnership between Helpmann Academy and Solstice Media, will connect experienced arts writers with emerging voices, as part of a program to strengthen coverage of arts and culture in South Australia. This collaboration will be facilitated through InDaily sister site, InReview, the home of arts in SA. InReview publishes professional, rigorous and credible arts journalism and cultural commentary each weekday.
The successful mentee will be matched with an InReview mentor(s) who will be assigned based on the interests and background of the mentee. The mentor work with them in all aspects of writing reviews as well as providing career advice. The mentorship will be conducted over eight hours per week for ten weeks. Throughout the program, the mentee will build their skills with the aim to produce several written reviews for publication on InReview.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?
Emerging creatives from any background who have an interest in arts writing and are graduates from an eligible program at one of Helpmann Academy’s partner institutions.
