The Helpmann Academy is thrilled to announce that emerging artist Hannah Coleman, will be the Project Curator for the 2023 Helpmann Academy Graduate Exhibition.
Hannah Coleman is an emerging curator, contemporary artist and poet born in South Africa, who has lived in Australia since 1999. Hannah recently graduated with a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts from the University of South Australia. Her current work focuses on cultural identity and diaspora, retrospection, and catharsis. Hannah’s practice is centred around process and the works are often transmissions of memory and sensation voiced through layers of colour and texture.
Hannah was a featured artist at this year’s Graduate Exhibition and is delighted to take on the role of Project Curator for 2023. Hannah will be working under Curatorial Mentor, Patrice Sharkey, Adelaide Contemporary Experimental (ACE) on all curatorial aspects of the exhibition.
Hannah says, she was flattered to be selected and is excited to be collaborating with and learning from the teams at both ACE and Helpmann.
“I’m eager to learn the language, possibilities, and poetics of gallery space. I hope to gain confidence, independence, and clarity in approaching future curatorial projects
and I’d love to come away with many beautiful connections, who can help guide and advise on everything from admin niggles to installation challenges.”
The 2023 Helpmann Academy Graduate Exhibition is proudly presented by ACE, Lion Arts Centre, North Terrace. Exhibition dates coming soon.
